The Indianapolis Zoo

Kai and mom went to the zoo for the first time on June 27th. They went with our friend and neighbor Jenna and "P".

Kai and P are the same height, but there is about an 8 pound weight difference. Kai enjoyed riding in the wagon with P pushing him, but was not as happy when he tried to push P and couldn't move him anywhere.

We spent the week before reading lots of animal books and working on animal noises, but we're still not sure what sound a bunny makes. Kai enjoyed seeing the ducks and fed some crackers to the ducks. We also saw a rhino, giraffes, polar bears and komono dragons.

Kai loved the dolphins and had a lot of fun running around the area with the dolphins above him. He did not like the dolphin show since mom did not let him run around the stairs and bleachers like he wanted to. He threw himself on the ground and started screaming. Stephanie dropped her cell phone and it broke apart with the battery flying underneath a wheelchair. As Kai continued to scream in front of the entire crowd (several hundred people), Stephanie crawled under the wheelchair and searched for her phone. After picking up a screaming Kai and carrying him to the top of the bleachers, he decided he did not want to stay until the show started and they left to go see the walrus. Looks like the terrible two's may be starting a little early.

Kai said "bear" for the first time and really liked the bunny and goats. He did want to go swimming in the shark petting tank, and Stephanie decided the day at the zoo was done.

Both boys fell asleep within 2 minutes of being strapped in their car seats and slept for 3 hours. It was a wonderful day and we will be getting a family membership.

While the zoo adventures were occuring, I was in Arizona for a guy's golf and poker weekend. I played 54 holes of golf on that Friday and managed to only burn my ankles and one spot on my legs.
