Memorial Day Weekend

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

We would like to start off this post by thanking all of the men and women both past and present that have served our contry in the armed forces. We have amazing freedoms that no other people in the world enjoy and we wouldn't have those liberties if it weren't for you.

This Memorial Day weekend has been very slow for us, or at least we see that we are now subject to a new standard of "slow". This weekend grandma and grandpa Eridon came down from the Toledo area to see us. We have done somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 loads of laundry, went to the grocery, mowed the yard (complete with edging, trimming, and cleaning off the mulch and concrete areas), went to the farmer's market in Noblesville, cleaned the house (had guests coming), grilled out some awesome steaks with corn on the cob, volunteered for nursery at church, listened to the Indianapolis 500 on the radio (it's blacked out here), had visitors over for Memorial Day lunch, cleaned the house again. I believe that this would be an action packed weekend for most people before they have children, but it was amazingly refreshing for us. We were able to get ready for bed and fall asleep each night instead of our normal "run until the batteries run out then fall in to bed" routine that we have most evenings.

Here are some pictures of Kai from his first Memorial Day weekend:

Grandma Eridon was trying hard to get Kai to smile for the camera. He can be a bit stingy with the smiles when the camera is on. Better luck next time!

Here the grandparents are trying to teach Kai to read. He made a lot of progress, I think he should have it pretty well down in the next few years.

Kai loves his baths but doesn't like being naked. Even with a well placed blanket, he was still begging for some clothes!

No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer. - 2 Timothy 2:4
